We have an early Christmas gift for you, good news: a preview of Ultimaker Cura’s new user interface. Developers want to know what you think, so be sure to give them your feedback on Cura community of 3D printing experts.
Drones spotted over the UK's second-busiest airport have halted flights since Wednesday evening, heavily disrupting the holiday travel of tens of thousands of passengers. Flights at London's Gatwick airport couldn't take off or land, and airport authorities said that 110,000 passengers on 760 flights were affected yesterday.
Scientists at the Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory have created a recipe for a renewable 3D printing feedstock that could spur a profitable new use for an intractable biorefinery byproduct: lignin. The discovery, detailed in Science Advances, expands ORNL’s achievements in lowering the cost of bioproducts by creating novel uses for lignin—the material left over from the processing of biomass. Lignin gives plants rigidity and also makes biomass resistant to being broken down into useful products.
MIT engineers have devised a way to create 3-D nanoscale objects by patterning a larger structure with a laser and then shrinking it. This image shows a complex structure prior to shrinking.
As the cost to 3D print components drops, we're beginning to see more vehicle incorporate the breakthrough technology. Numerous automakers plan to include more 3D-printed components in future vehicles, and on deck is the upcoming 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500.
Prison officials announced plans to change policies, hire a denture specialist, start a denture clinic, train unit dentists to better identify when dentures are necessary and confirmed plans to pursue 3D-printing dentures at one of the prison units, though it’s not yet clear which one.
